Position Overview: We are seeking an exceptional Child and Family Therapist with a deep passion for mental health to join our dynamic team in our Montclair office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with children and families, a strong therapeutic skill set, and a commitment to promoting mental wellness. This role involves providing individual and family therapy, conducting assessments, and developing treatment plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited program in social work or clinical counseling
- Must have a current, valid, unrestricted license to practice social work/counseling in the state of New Jersey
- Flexibility with work hours to meet productivity goals and deadlines
- Team player and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Exceptional clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with anxiety, mood and behavioral disorders, as well as their families
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one evidence-based intervention for anxiety disorders such as CBT, TF-CBT, adapted PCIT, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), with an interest in learning additional interventions.
- Demonstrated experience with professional writing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups
- Must have the desire to serve and work to fulfill the mission of Starr Therapy
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and treatment to children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, behavioral problems.
- Conduct family-based interventions with parents and other family members, and maintain collateral contacts with educators and other providers.
- Provide empirically-supported treatments such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), as well as mindfulness-based interventions in treatment.
- Clinician will complete initial intake evaluation of client’s needs based on their expressed goals.
- Prepare diagnosis, treatment plan and choose interventions to help client meet their goals.
- Provide accurate and timely documentation of treatment.
- Provide culturally informed/sensitive and respectful treatment.
- Provide client-centered and solution oriented treatment.
- Participate in case consultations, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Stay current with evidence-based practices and industry standards.
