COLLABORATIONS

At Starr Therapy, our work extends beyond the therapy room.

Talia Starr Filippelli, Founder of Starr Therapy, and Hania Schwartz, Vice President of Clinical Operations, first met in 2010 while working within the inpatient psychiatric division at Bergen Regional Medical Center (now New Bridge Medical Center), where Hania served as Director of Social Services and Talia worked as a clinician on one of the psychiatric units.

From early on, they shared an approach to mental health care that is rooted clinical depth, authenticity, curiosity, and genuine human connection. Over time, their professional relationship evolved into a longstanding friendship and collaborative partnership that continued throughout the many stages of their personal and professional lives.

As their careers expanded into areas including psychotherapy, behavioral health leadership, education, parenting and family systems, consultation, and public mental health advocacy, so did their vision for creating a practice grounded in both clinical sophistication and real-world humanity.

Today, Starr Therapy reflects that shared vision: a collaborative practice built on trust, relational care, thoughtful clinical work, and the belief that meaningful mental health support should feel both deeply informed and deeply human.
Together, Talia and Hania bring decades of combined experience across psychotherapy, behavioral health leadership, parenting and family systems, education, complex mental health treatment, nervous system-based therapy, program development, and public mental health advocacy.

Through speaking engagements, workshops, consultation, and educational programming, they partner with schools, organizations, healthcare systems, clinicians, and community groups seeking thoughtful, evidence-informed approaches to emotional wellness and behavioral health.

Their work combines clinical depth with real-world application to help individuals, families, clinicians, and organizations better understand mental health in ways that are practical, accessible, and deeply human.
